This book was published to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city of La Quinta's incorporation. While twenty-five years is not long in the history of a city, La Quinta's heritage has a rich legacy which goes back to the turn of the 19th century when land grants of 160 acre parcels were given out to homesteaders who would then receive title to the land after five years. From this humble beginning, the City of La Quinta - in California's Coachella Valley, near Palm Springs - appeared, and those who are fortunate to live there continue to reap the benefit of those early settlers' vision. This book is a memorial to the marvelous people who shaped the future of the city.
